At Tom Johnson Boys Academy, we are more than a school—we are shaping a generation of young men who will lead with wisdom, integrity, and purpose. The Tom Johnson Founder’s Society recognizes the importance of continuing the legacy of our founder, Reverend Tom Johnson, whose extraordinary impact has changed lives for generations. We honor his memory and continue his great work.
By joining the Tom Johnson Founder’s Society, you become a cornerstone in fulfilling Tom’s legacy, ensuring that every young man at TJBA has access to the education, mentorship, and opportunities he deserves. You will provide a scholarship for a student who you will follow for three years.

TAX CREDIT PROGRAM
The Tom Johnson Boys Academy of the Mon Valley is an approved Scholarship Organization (SO) and an approved Opportunity Scholarship Organization (OSTC) under the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Tax Credit program. Use your tax dollars to benefit scholarship students through the following programs:
– Educational Improvement Tax Credit [EITC]
– Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit Program [OSTC]
– Educational Improvement Organization [EIO] Programs
The State of Pennsylvania has created the opportunity for individuals to receive the same 90% Pennsylvania income tax credits as corporations. This means you can receive a 90% Pennsylvania income tax credit by providing much-needed scholarships for students at approved schools such as The Tom Johnson Boys’ Academy. We are committed to ensuring that our donors join the thousands of individuals throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania who love this opportunity to turn tax dollars into scholarships.
FOR INDIVIDUALS AND BUSINESS OWNERS
Organizations such as the Central PA Scholarship Fund can provide tax credits to individuals and businesses through a Special Purpose Entity. Please visit pennsylvaniaeitc.org for more information.
We have simplified this process enabling you to join an existing LLC to receive tax credit by completing a 1-page Joinder. See below for steps in the process:
– Determine the amount of your tax obligation for the current tax year.
– Complete the Joinder for Spring 2026 Joinder or Fall 2026 Joinder.
– Return the Joinder director to Central Pennsylvania Scholarship Fund.
– You will receive confirmation of your Joinder and notification when to send in your contribution.
– Contribution will be made by Central PA Scholarship Fund to the school in Fall or Spring.
– You will receive K-1 in Feb/March to process you tax return.
FOR BUSINESSES
If you pay taxes in Pennsylvania you can take advantage of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit or Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit programs offered by the State to impact education. Any qualifying business can participate, so please share this information with any colleagues who may want to receive tax credits while supporting the Tom Johnson Boys’ Academy. Applying is easy, but there is a cap on funding, and applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications for businesses in the middle of a two-year commitment and returning donors will be accepted starting May 15. New applications will be accepted beginning in July. Depending on your business structure, you may also participate through the Central PA Scholarship Fund. Please consult your tax professional on how these programs may impact your business.
